A Tour Of The Most Magical Holiday Windows
When it comes to the holiday season, there is magic all around us. Some of that magic can be seen during a stroll down the street. If you live in a major city, you’re pretty lucky to see the magic of holiday windows every year. People spend months and months planning out how to make the littlest detail perfect, all for your enjoyment. We decided to do a round up of some of our favorite holiday windows. Click through the slideshow to see the windows of Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York, Tiffany & Co. and Holt Renfrew.
To add some cool facts for the tech fans out there, we had the chance to speak with one of the developers on Holt Renfrew’s interactive window display, Toronto-based Interactive 3D designer, Joaquin Habacon.
“Holt Renfrew’s theme this season was ‘Snowflakes’, and from that concept a digital interactive display was created that allows users to interact with the snowflakes as they fall from the top of a 65” portrait oriented LCD. The interactive display, is equipped with an infra-red camera to track the user’s movements and silhouette. There are three store front windows showcasing mannequins and clothes, alternating between the two LCD screens, which feature the interactive installations,” says Joaquin.
He goes on to mention, “It is great to see the two worlds of interactive technology and fashion amalgamated into a single creative unit. I am happy to be a part of this process, and more so that my work is home grown in Canada.”
