Balmain Goes Baroque for Fall 2012
It’s no lie that the House of Balmain is all about the glam rock. And with fans in the form of Vogue Paris’ Emmanuelle Alt, as well as KENTON’s very own Editor-in-Chief, Balmain always has a high standard. For fall, Olivier Rousteing’s second collection had everything we love about the Balmain look – glitz, gold, silver, skinny legs, high hemlines, and that oh-so-effortless hair and make-up – and gave it a more classical twist. The various baroque inspirations and adornments were accompanied by ornate flower details, which added a pop of color to the predominantly black and nude palette, also broken up by a hint of teal here and there. Rousteing’s collection embodied the Balmain spirit perfectly – edgy, cool, but still sophisticated – and in terms of his longetivity as creative director, it is clear that he’s going to be at the helm for quite some time. And to think, he’s only in his mid-Twenties…
