Balmain gets us every time. Designer Olivier Rousteing just knows exactly how to push our sartorial buttons. Spring 2013 is all about the neutral earth tones: olive, khaki, beige, tan and steel blue.

The look is utilitarian, rich with military influences – a style that has become synonymous with Balmain. The silhouettes and cuts are young and cool, but also sophisticated with just the right amount of edge.

Elements of safari, biker-chic and military are fused with ease in this collection; luxurious leather motorcycle jackets are paired with pleated khakis, linen shirts with patched pants with zipper detailing. Clean lines give many of the jackets a crispness, juxtaposing the sun-bleached finish on pants and shirting.
