Bano eeMee Makes A Mark At Vancouver Fashion Week
Bano eeMee showed at Vancouver Fashion Week for the first time last weekend, garnering quite the buzz around Vancouver’s fashion set. Mixing performance with runway, the show opened with designer Aleem Arif dressing each model in leather outerwear pieces from the fall 2012 collection. Each of the jackets features a unique lining, adding an element of surprise to the garments.
Capes, military jackets and tuxedo lapel blazers were all on the agenda for Bano eeMee’s fall 2012, with a standout double-breasted tan coat with black leather sleeves. Chain clasps on the blazers provided a delicate and luxurious finish, while velvet lapels brought a suave menswear edge. Outerwear is definitely a strong point for Bano eeMee. Color palette is also very versatile, black and tan dominating most of the looks.
Hailing from the finance world, Aleem Arif decided to switch his career to Fashion and form Bano eeMee in 2011. The brand is dedicated to two generations of women in Aleem’s family.
He recalls, “my grandmother used to lovingly call my mother ‘Bano’ and ‘eeMee’ is what my mother called me. I decided to form Bano eeMee paying homage to both generations, its perfection.”
