Barneys Opens New Shoe Floor, Perfect Pairs
Yesterday, Barneys New York opened its new shoe floor, Perfect Pairs at the Madison Avenue flagship store. Both men’s and women’s shoes are now housed adjacent to each other on the fifth floor.
The 22,000 square foot space was designed by architecture firm Yabu Pushelberg, under the direction of Barneys’ Creative Director Dennis Freedman. The new minimalist look is consistent with Barneys’ gallery aesthetic and Madison Avenue’s newly renovated women’s ground floor, which will be complete this September.
In celebration of the new floor, Barneys has created Perfect Pairs, a campaign, which supports the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and its Americans for Marriage Equality Program.
“The opening of our new fifth floor for shoes is another milestone in our multi-year plan to renovate our Madison Avenue flagship, which creates new cross connections between the women and men floors,” said Mark Lee, CEO of Barneys New York. “We are excited to unveil this luxurious new environment to our customers and shoe designers and are proud to support the HRC in the spirit of all variations of Perfect Pairs.”
As part of the campaign, Barneys New York will donate 10% of sales from the new shoe floor between Monday, July 16 and Sunday, July 22 to the HRC to further their work in fighting discrimination against LGBT people and expanding marriage equality around the country.
To celebrate the Perfect Pairs launch, Barneys is also giving away a $5,000 shopping spree! Details here.
