Bora Aksu Spring 2013

Bora Aksu spring 2013-01

There was something regal about the way the designs at Bora Aksu were presented today. Perhaps it was the crowns that each model adorned on her head, or perhaps it was the heavy use of regal colors, either way, the collection proved that Bora Aksu’s designs have a definitive aura about them.

Whilst the shapes seemed difficult to wear in a way that would flatter a woman’s body, it was refreshing to see something more fluid and airy come on to the runway in the palette that it did. The tights – which some bemused onlookers may have thought tattoos – added a sensuality to the looks that they accompanied, snaking up and around the legs softly, gently, almost caressingly. The floating fabrics used not only accentuated the soft, floral motif to the collection, but also created a wonderful tension between the colors and the designs whose end result was a breathtaking collection. The bags – whose impeccable details cannot be seen in the runway photos – featured a cutwork technique which almost seemed as if each bag had been hand carved in to, creating unique and stunningly structural designs.

Though the collection lacked a degree of wearability, perhaps that is just a bias that one might hold. After all, only a commanding, powerful, yet strikingly beautiful woman’s husband could exclaim “I bet my wife will buy all of this in a heartbeat!” Oh, to be that woman.
