Breakfast at Barneys New York with a Side of Belstaff

Simon Doonan Hosts A Breakfast And Conversation With Martin Cooper Of Belstaff At Barney's New York

While Breakfast at Tiffany’s is dandy, there is nothing quite as special as breakfast at Barney’s. Well, that’s exactly what we did this morning. While 8:30 is early for anyone, it’s especially early for a group of people who get extreme outfit anxiety and second-guess just about every sartorial choice. I digress. However, this morning some of fashion’s most fabulous strutted into Barney’s before it opened (which I image is a lot what heaven is like) to have breakfast with Simon Doonan and the chief-creative-office of Belstaff, Martin Cooper, to discuss the re-launch of the brand. Which, by the way, is beautiful.

We discussed the heritage of Belstaff — from the men who inspired it from past to present and much more. Did you know that Belstaff is strongly inspired from the time in England “when people bought open cockpit planes and Bentley’s for fun,” said Martin Cooper. One must never overlook the extensive detailing that comes from Belstaff. It’s all about the hardware with Belstaff,  from the signature tread to the hand painted python moto jacket. For this upcoming season with Belstaff, “leather trousers are the new jean,” and we strongly agree with Cooper on that.

The moral of the story being, if you do anything with your life it should be checking out the Belstaff collection on the 3rd floor of Barney’s.
