BREAKING: Betsey Johnson Files For Bankruptcy

It’s a sad, sad day in the fashion industry when we lose one of our favorites….to bankruptcy. We mourn the loss of Betsey Johnson, the cart-wheeling, crazy kooky designer has filed for Chapter 11 reports WWD. Unfortunately, a majority of the designers boutiques and jobs will be cut.

The silver lining here is that Johnson will continue to remain creative director for her various licensing agreements and her Macy’s line. Betsey went on to say “I love the moderate-price range. It is sync with all the girls who are buying my clothes,” she continue on with “I feel so sad for my store people and all my pink girls. They live and die for me. But I need to be better. I really need to work well and be more efficient.” It’s sad to say but we all kind of saw this coming but it’s still heart wrenching.

We’re sad to see you go Betsey and even sadder that you won’t be showing anymore at upcoming fashion weeks. Your show was always more of a big fashion reunion party than anything. We wish you the best of luck in the future!
