What can be said about Julianne Moore? This woman is stunning and she gets better looking as she ages. This is a ginger who knows how to work it and work it she did for the 2013 SAG Awards. I love this look as it not only works for a red carpet event, but would make a lovely look for a special occasion for the 45 or older set. You know who you are and you know you want to look good too.

Eyes: To complement that lovely peachy complexion start off with Ellis Faas Miky Eyes E209 ($36) as a base all over the eye up just under the crease. A bit of Inglot #344 Eyeshadow ($6) in the crease and along the bottom lash line. Lightly blend the top edge slightly above the crease. Go for a matte brown eyeshadow like Inglot #329 Eyeshadow ($6) for a liner along the lash line. Gently press it in the lash line and follow up with a light blend. This is look is about the lashes pop on a pair of Ardell Fashion Lashes #110 ($4).

Skin: There is a slightly flushed look with her blusher. If you have great skin that you are working with apply the blush under your foundation. You have to be using a light coverage product like NARS Sheer Matte Foundation ($42) or Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup ($13).

Lips: Keeping with the rest of the look go for a soft nude. I like NARS Honolulu Honey ($24) or if you are looking to save some dollars I like NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick Frappuchino ($4).

Make it yours: Put your own stamp on this look. Instead of a barely there nude lip go for the gusto. Pair this with a red lip like for a bold statement.

1. Stay hydrated – Not only is it good for your recovery it is essential for your skin. Skin can get dehydrated and lose it’s luster when you are ill. Keep taking in fluids to replace what your skin is losing during the cold or flu.
2. The tell tale raw nose – Keep this area thoroughly moisturized. With a runny nose this area gets scaly and rough rather easily. Mario Badescu’s Herbal Hydrating Serum ($30) is amazing for this area. This hydrating gel formula is pricey but it is light, not greasy and non irritating. Slather it on underneath your regular moisturizer in the tea zone and it will provide that boost of hydration that you need.
3. Those chapped lips – Keep them moisturized as well. Do you see a theme emerging? Some great favorites like good old Aquaphor Healing Ointment ($5) is amazing for for lips that have gone past dry over to crusty. This is a staple in my household. It is found everywhere and isn’t going to cost an arm and a leg.
4. Lackluster skin color – Putting back some color into the skin. When you are sick your face goes grey (except for the areas that have gone all red) and it is not a good look for anyone. To combat this a bit of extra coverage is in order. You want a concealer that packs a wallop. MAKE UP FOR EVER’s Full Cover Concealer ($32) is great full coverage pigmented product. A tiny bit goes a very long way. I focus a bit on my t- zone area and finish up with a tinted moisturizer.
5. Keep the rest of your look super simple. A lip stain and a bit of cream blush will give you some color without spending the time on a full face of makeup. You may not want to look made up; try going for looking normal.
6.  Inside of your mouth – What is the use of looking beautiful and glowy when your breath smells like it can melt eyebrows? Let’s face it bad breath comes with the territory. Alternate between your favorite cough drop, I personally love cherry Halls and a powerful breath mint. Altoids are great and can slay even a dragon’s breath.

Every year around this time there are all kinds of germs and bugs going around. Getting sick for some is inevitable. Staying home isn’t always the course of action. There are times you have to drag yourself out of bed to take care of business, the world doesn’t stop because you do. With these tips you will be able to make it through the day to get home to a nice hot bowl of soup.

When all eyes are on you it is important to know when to say when. Pick your best feature and go all out (within reason now) and everything else just accents. The focus is all eyes, she is going to draw you in.

Eyes: Start with the Estee Lauder Film Noir Pure Color EyeShadow Palette ($48) we are going to complete this eye look with this one palette. Start by placing the dark grey color all over the lid right up to the crease and under the lower lash line. Do not connect the two at the outer corner. It closes up the eye and make it smaller. Take the black shadow in the middle and blend it into the crease and lash line, creating a sideways V. For that bright inner corner take the taupe and blend a little bit into that area.

Lips: Pick out your favorite nude pencil and put a bit of lipgloss over top. Don’t use anything too sparkly because it will reflect brightly with the flash. The Maybelline SuperStay 10 HR Stain Gloss in Blissful Brown 190 ($9) is perfect. It does not last for 10 hours but it’s amazing because it is a stain that doesn’t dry out your lips. Winner.

Skin: For that perfectly highlighted and contoured skin look to bronzers. Now bronzers for brown girls is a whole other post of a different kind. For this look stick to matte products. Now if you can’t find a bronzer that works take a look at powder foundation products. IMAN Luxury Pressed Powder ($16) works lovely for most skins. Rule of thumb is grab two shades lighter for your highlight and go two shades darker for your bronzer color.

This season, Jenny Packham’s collection was inspired by the lavish intellectual salons of 17th century Paris, where women of nobility gathered to discuss the arts, culture and philosophy. Talia Shobrook, lead makeup artist for the show, balanced Packham’s opulent designs with a subdued makeup look. Pale, luminous, impeccably groomed skin took center stage. The resulting look was “rich and expensive” yet nearly bare. “This woman exudes a subtle confidence,” stated Shobrook.

Flawless Face: Flawless, “nearly bare” skin

1. First, Shobrook applied Laura Mercier Mega-Moisturizer Crème SPF 15 ($50) to soothe and hydrate the skin.
2. Then she applied Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance ($32) to create the perfect canvas for makeup application.
3. Shobrook then applied Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ($43) to give the skin a sheer hint of dewy colour.
4. Then, depending on the model’s complexion, she applied Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Foundation ($50) or Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation ($43) to hydrate and protect the skin.
5. Next, Shobrook applied Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Angelic ($26) to contour the cheeks followed by Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Pink Blush ($26) to give the cheeks a natural glow.

Eyes: Natural hues are subtle and sophisticated

1. Talia began by applying Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Tawny ($24) along the eye crease to create definition.
2. She applied Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Seashell ($24) on the inner and outside corner of the eyes.
3. Next, Talia added Laura Mercier Luster Eye Colour in Bamboo ($22) under the bottom lash line.
4. To complete the eyes, she applied Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara in Sierra Brown ($24); available April 2013.

Lips: Delicate and feminine lips

1. To create a feminine lip, Talia applied Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Seashell ($24) onto the lip’s Cupid’s bow, thecurve of the upper lip.
2. Adding the final touch, she lightly dabbed Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Pink Blush ($26).

For the face: The center of this look is a fresh “no makeup look” to counterbalances the bold accents of the collection.

• First, Matin applied Laura Mercier Foundation Primer ($32) to create the perfect canvas for makeup application.
• Then, depending on the model’s complexion, he used Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Foundation ($50) or Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation ($43) to hydrate and protect the skin.
• Next, he used Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage ($30) to conceal any problem areas and leave her with the perfect complexion.
• He applied Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($35) to set and finish the look.
• To give the skin a healthy color, Matin brushed Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Blaze ($24) and Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Sweet Mandarin ($24) onto the cheekbones.
• Matin then contoured the apples of the cheeks with the Bronzer Veil from Laura Mercier Bonne Mine Healthy Glow for Face & Cheeks Crème Colour Palette ($48). (The Bonne Mine Palette not only provides a healthy, natural glow, but 100 percent of the profits from its sales are donated to the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund.)

For the eyes: Matin used varying shades of gold to highlight the eyes.

• Matin gently brushed Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour in Gilded
Moonlight ($24) onto the eyelid.
• He then applied Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc in Golden Mosaic ($38) to the
eyelids, leaving them gleaming with a warm, natural sheen.
• To complete the eyes, he swept on a coat of of gold colored mascara to dramatically lengthen and define lashes while drawing light towards the eye.
• Laura Mercier Eye Brow Pencil ($20) was applied to define the models’ eyebrows as needed.

For the Lips: Deep Wine lips created a modern look that “tied all the colors together.”

• Matin applied Laura Mercier Lip Silk ($22) to the models’ lips to create a smooth and nourished base.
• He contoured and shaded the lips using Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Coffee Bean ($20).
• Adding the final touch, he applied Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Deep Wine ($20) to achieve bold, modern look.

Eyes: For this look go with a dark grey shadow, the NYX Smokey Shadow Palette ($7) is a great buy. Start off with the dark grey in the palette. Lay down some black over the grey. Focus the color around the eyes and blend the edges well with clean brush. Go for light layers with this color; it packs a wallop. Place the beige color on the inner corners. You can opt for the white shadow but blend well so the look won’t become startling.

Blush: Use Daniel Sandler’s Blusher Cherub (£14.50) on the cheeks for a warm gentle hint of color. This product can be used with either a brush or fingers. Quick tip: If using with your fingers place it on the cheeks underneath your foundation. It gives you a beautiful glow from within.

Lips: To make this look yours go with your favorite nude lip color. I love MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Natural N4 ($19).

As we all know, make-up is a dangerous field to break into; it can either be a huge success or a giant flop. We have faith in Alber that he’ll be able to produce something amazing.
