It’s definitely a departure from “Work,” with infectiously groovy beats and addictive lyrics, Iggy can be seen in full-on Bollywood form and the results are stunning. Shot on location in India (according to her Twitter, Iggy insisted on shooting on location rather than in a State-side studio in order to put the money into India – like we needed a reason to love her more!) with gorgeous imagery, costuming, styling and dancing, there’s only so much we can say – you need to see this!

Summer is right around the corner and that means all those high-budget, high-action, and blockbuster comedy movies are coming to a theater near you.

We know your time (and money) is precious, so we at KENTON have narrowed down all of this summer’s new films to the ones you need to see, starting with this weekend’s Iron Man 3. Opening May 3, 2013 Iron Man 3 picks up after the events in last summer Marvel’s The Avengers and stars Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, and new badie Ben Kingsley. Rated PG-13, tickets now on pre-sale at Fandango.com.

One of the films that has the biggest buzz right now is Baz Luhrmann’s take on The Great Gatsby. This film was original scheduled for a holiday 2012 release before Warner Bros moved it to a summer release. The film stars Leonardo Dicaprio as Jay Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan, and Isla Fisher as Myrtle Wilson. So far this film has the distinct look and feel of a Baz Luhrmann film, with an amazing soundtrack to match. Rated PG-13, The Great Gatsby opens nationwide on May 10th and at the Festival de Cannes on May 15th.

Calling all Trekkies! This next film is for you. On May 17th, J.J. Abrams and company will release the next installment of the rebooted Star Trek franchise with Star Trek Into the Darkness. This film features all the same characters as the 2009 film and features Benedict Cumberbatch (BBC’s Sherlock Holmes) as the baddie Khan. Rated PG-13.

Before 2009, the movie most synonymous to Las Vegas was Ocean’s 11, then a little film called The Hangover starring Bradley Cooper opened and a trip to Vegas would never be the same. After a slightly funny sequel in 2011, the crew is back for the final film in this trilogy with The Hangover Part III. The regular crew is back including the hilarious Mr. Chow and is headed back to Las Vegas with John Goodman as the film villain. Rated R for obvious reasons and opens nationwide May 24th.

In the mood for a double feature? Then book the weekend of June 14th for a weekend at the movies as both Man of Steel (the latest attempt at rebooting the Superman franchise) and The Bling Ring open up in theaters. Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill (The Tudors) as Clark Kent and is directed by 300 and The Watchmen director Zack Snyder. Unlike the 2006 Superman Returns, Man of Steel will feature General Zod as the main villian. The Bling Ring stars Emma Watson and several newcomers and tells the story of real-life Hollywood Hills robberies that happened back in 2008-2009. The film was written and directed by Sofia Coppola and will open the Un Certain Regard section of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. Man of Steel is rated PG-13 while The Bling Ring is rated R.

Disney/Pixar has seen a lot of success with sequels to their early hits and on June 21st their latest film is more of a prequel. Monsters University will take place before the events of 2001 Monsters, Inc and will see Mike and Sulley during their days at Monsters University. Monsters University is not yet rated but will most likely be PG . Also opening in June is the new female led comedy The Heat staring Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock. This is another film that was slated earlier on the release calendar but got moved to the summer to hopefully bring in more dollars. The Heat features Bullock as an FBI special agent who is paired with a local Boston officer (McCarthy) to take down a drug load. Rated R and opens June 28th.

As long as Hugh Jackman is alive there will be more films about his X-Men alter ego, Wolverine. July 26th’s The Wolverine is the latest film in the long running X-Men franchise and will see Logan go to a modern-day Japan where he finds people from his past. As of press time The Wolverine is unrated but we expect the film to be rated PG-13.

Rounding out our summer movie list is the latest fantasy book-to-film adaptation, The Mortal Instruments: The City of Bones. Now if you haven’t heard of The Mortal Instruments this highly popular book series tells the story of Clary Fray who must deal with another world to help rescue her missing mother. The film stars Lily Collins (Mirror, Mirror) as Clary, Jamie Campbell Bower (The Twilight Saga, Harry Potter) as Jace Wayland, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Valentine Morgenstern and is based off the novel by Cassandra Clare. Look for The Mortal Instruments: The City of Bones, which is not yet rated, to open nationwide on August 23rd.

We’ve been hearing many rumors about Mimi’s comeback for quite some time, but now it seems clear that she is coming back to claim her throne in the R&B and Pop charts. Just hours ago, she released a short teaser for “BEAUTIFUL,” the upcoming first single off her yet-untitled new album. With the help of R&B sensation, Miguel, known for his explicitly seducing tracks like “Adorn” from his well-received album, “Kaleidoscope Dream,” this latest duet is sure to be a worldwide sensation just in time for summer.

In this enticing yet sweet teaser, the always flirtatious Mariah Carey can be seen giggling, licking her lips, touching her hair, and best of all, throwing off her Louboutins while seated on an expensive motorcycle. Fans will be able to hear the full track on May 6th, 2013, when “BEAUTIFUL” is released worldwide. For now, be prepared to be fully ‘teased’ by Mrs. Carey Cannon as we await the return of the Voice.

Last July, we introduced you to Florrie, the British “indie” (and we use the term loosely) artist, whose D.I.Y. pop had heads turning with the femme fatale aesthetics of “Shot You Down.” Roughly one year later with a now signed recording contract and dozens of instagram photos cataloguing of her studio sessions, Florrie has re-emerged with a music video and FREE download. Florrie’s “Live a Little” is the mult-instrumentalist’s first single since 2012’s Late EP, and her biggest single yet.

Jazzy brass, a beat-driven groove and swaggering bass line take the former house drummer’s impeccable pop to another level including a mid-track breakdown into a bass solo and handclaps. Sassy lyrics; “Luckily I got a book of tricks/Know what I gotta do to get my kicks,” give “Live a Little” just enough bite to go along with the single’s irresistible strut.

Set in an empty studio, the video finds Florrie multiplying to provide her own percussion, horns and tambourine. The confident pop starlet rocks a classic white tee and jeans with thick gold cuff bracelets and black high tops, showcasing a pair of black Sony earphones as Florrie and “Live a Little” will be featured in an upcoming ad campaign for Sony XBA C10 In-ear headphones.

Whatever the reason for the release of “Live a Little” Florrie offers another pop gem on her slow and steady rise to pop notoriety.

It’s no secret that the Editors at KENTON have been working, commuting, and LIVING to the sound of Iggy Azalea’s “Work”. If you haven’t heard the original, give it a listen – it’s a guaranteed motivator! So when we woke up this morning and saw this new, stripped down version on VEVO (Iggy has been announced as the newest VEVO ‘Lift’ artist) we knew we had to share. We’re head over heels in love with the juxtaposition of this raw track versus her glamorous look and the softness of the string quartet and surrounding architecture. The more you watch the better it gets – especially around the three-minute mark. We’ve got this video on loop in the office to brighten up our week!

Two years later after his KENTON cover shoot, we caught up with the young musician to find out where he’s been, what he’s been doing and what’s coming next. With a new record dropping soon, Aaron is continuing on the road to success, and definitely one to watch!

KENTON magazine: It’s been a while since we met and did our first feature with you. What have you been up to since then? Aaron Crawford: I have been up to a lot! Spent some time in LA recording and playing, and released a record that I’m super proud of, with some great friends, including Nik Hughes from Youngblood Hawke and Adam Macdougall from The Black Crowes. The first single “Bad Habit” did pretty well and had us busy performing radio shows and festivals in 2012. We also appeared on Fox 5′s Morning show and hit some Red Carpet events in New York City, like the premiere of Rob Burnett’s latest film We Made This Movie. So far in 2013, the band has started work on a new record, was nominated for 2 Washington Area Music awards and invited to perform multiple showcases at SXSW. It’s been Rad!

KENTON: What’s the most exciting thing you’re currently working on? Aaron: I would have to say the new record! This one is going to be a fun record, more party with the same emphasis on huge choruses. I have also been dabbling with keys and electronic sounds, and I love gypsy punk. I’m really trying to bring all of that together on this one – a lot of energy and songs that make you want to sing along!

KENTON: Can you share some inspiration behind your new album? Aaron: My past has a lot to do with this new record. I wanted to step away from writing solely about relationships, and open up about things that I wouldn’t normally write about. Everyone loves a song about partying and getting laid, but that doesn’t mean every song has to be about it, you know? One of the songs, “Time To Swim” is literally about avoiding going to jail after a street fight, by diving into a lake and swimming to the other shoreline. I want those stories heard. Real stories make great songs.

KENTON: Anything exciting about this new album that listeners might not know? Or something you’re personally excited about? Aaron: Aside from some of the names that will be on the record, the most exciting thing I think is that I’m getting back to my edgy roots, which will make the live shows more energetic than they already are. Crazy truth and passion going into these songs! Really excited to get it out! I’m also excited about where music is going in general. There are some great bands out there doing their thing. I’ve been digging on bands like Chvrches and The Wavves lately and of course I got love for Youngblood Hawke! Awesome stuff!

KENTON: What’s next now? Aaron: My focus this year is more touring and I would also love to go overseas with this new stuff. After the record comes out, I’ll go where it takes me…

Listen to Aaron Crawford’s new single “Rebel Hearts One” below and download it for free for the next two weeks!

Following the release of The Red Room, DWNTWN’s most recent EP last November, the band has been non-stop ever since gearing up for this month’s South By Southwest in Austin, Texas.

Originally started as a duo by Robert Cepeda and Jamie Leffler, DWNTWN became a newly minted trio adding drummer Jerrod Bettis into the mix giving the band a more bombastic live presence while hitting up Miami Beach’s Art Basel in December along with local L.A. performance and shot two videos including The Red Room single, the synth-drenched “Stood Me Up.”

Vocalist Jamie Leffler explains the concept for the recently released clip of “Stood Me Up” saying; “We wanted to make a video that captured the vibe of the song and stay away from having an involved story line.” Directed by Jeremy Johnstone, the video follows bandmate Robert Cepeda on his road trip as a hitch hiker, complete with late night hotel drinking and a trip to the tattoo parlor. According to Leffler, “Robert loves Kurt Cobain and Johnny Cash, so getting to be a grungy country dude getting sketchy tattoos, and hitch hiking was right up his alley.” The video’s loose, free spirit suits the track’s dreamy, escapist feel even if “Stood Me Up” is a bittersweet affair as its title suggests. DWNTWN are in the midst of completing their second video for fellow EP track “See My Eyes” and will be playing SXSW (South by Southwest) later this month. Be sure to check out the video below.

Every now then you get a lull in red carpet and movie premieres and we experience what ALT would call a “famine of beauty”. Thankfully with pre-blockbuster season upon us and the Kid’s Choice Awards, the famine is over and celebs are working their style once again.

Kicking us off this week is Snow White aka Bella Swan-Cullen aka Kristen Stewart who hit the purple carpet for the Kid’s Choice Awards in L.A.. Looking like she is ready for spring to happen, Kristen looked down-right peppy, pretty, and chic in a blue and black checkered top/shorts from Osman that she paired with pointy toe Christian Louboutin pumps. Even her make-up and her ready for spring braid were flawless. Too bad this whole look was ruined thanks to the infamous green slime.

The always lovely Blake Lively took her fashionable self up north to Toronto for Target’s opening party. Going for a full spring look Blake chose a soft Roland Mouret watercolor print dress that she paired with foral print pumps from Christian Louboutin.

The Host is the latest book turned film from Stephenie Meyer which means premieres a plenty. Actress Christiane Seidel turned up at The Cinema Society & Jaeger-LeCoultre hosted NYC premiere in a fern metallic cocktail dress from the fall 2013 THEIA collection. We adore the cap sleeve and baroque inspired neckline on this dress.

Also attending the New York screening of The Host was Diane Kruger, who stars in the film. Diane hit the carpet in a Chanel studded mini that was pretty but understated. Her shoes on the other hand are drool worthy. The red carpet lighting made it look like Diane wore tights with some pumps, when in fact she was wearing a pair of suede thigh-high (or higher) boots from Christian Louboutin. We’ve always loved Diane’s fearless style and this just makes us love her more.

This week Weight Watchers celebrated 50 years of helping people lose weight and to help with the celebration was actress/singer/Weight Watchers success story Jennifer Hudson. JHud showed off her fabulous slimmed down body in a Donna Karan gold metallic pencil skirt, black top, and Christian Louboutin Diptic pump.

It was only fitting that French actress and Dior darling Marion Cotillard was sitting front and center and the Christian Dior Fall 2013 RTW. Marion appropriately wore a Dior black and white printed dress paired with Dior shoes and the Lady Dior bag. It doesn’t hurt that Dior Fall 2013 RTW collection was amazing as well.

Vanessa Hudgens looked perfectly chic for the DVF Loves ROXY Launch earlier this week. Taking a break from promoting her new film Spring Breakers, Hudgens appropriately wore a DVF jacket and shoes paired with a grey t-shirt and black skinny jeans. She finished off her look with Palladium Cyclone, Cosmic Meteor, and circular rings and House of Harlow 1960 necklace.

Alison Williams is one of our favorite new “it” girls right now and fronting the current issue of Town & Country, Alison is also on the cover of Boston Common Magazine. To celebrate, Williams went with a white and amethyst creeping lily printed silk and cotton tee with a matching pencil skirt from the Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2013 Collection. Count this as another win for Alison on the red carpet.

Emmy Rossum might not be staring in Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful, but that didn’t stop her from attending the Gucci and The Cinema Society NYC premiere of the new film. We applaud Emmy for her use of spring colors and floral print to get us in the mood for spring in head to toe Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2013.

Abigail Breslin, that cute you little girl from Little Miss Sunshine is all grown-up and she proved that at the premiere for her new film The Call. Abigail showed off her new grown-up self in a Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet “Addison” bow collar cropped jacket paired with the “Eric” wide leg pants. She polished off her look with a bold red lip, which is always in season.
