DKNY + Faux Buzz = Actual News!
We here at KENTON are huge on social media – almost all of our staff are on Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook, and we pride ourselves on that, because let’s face it – social media is the way forward. And no-one knows this better than the ever-so-savvy Aliza Licht, SVP of Global Communications at Donna Karan Intl –more commonly known under her pen-name @dkny.
In a unique move, DKNY have released a video promoting the grand reopening of their London flagship on Old Bond Street, in a new effort to revolutionize the way we perceive social media and the ‘need to be in the know’ we’ve all become accustomed to. Part-satire (let’s face it, we’re all a bit obsessed with social media, aren’t we?), part-genius, Licht and the DKNY team have proven how powerful the social networking experience can be – travelling across the world in a matter of minutes.
The video – below – shows people on all forms of social media including Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Pinterest, getting hyped up over a mysterious event called #UK2012. The video features a range of Twitter personalities – @psimadethis’ Erica Domesek starts the craze, slowly being caught on by others including @themadameditor, Vanity Fair’s Fashion Market Director Michael Carl, singer Jessie J, style blogger Susie Bubble, supermodel Coco Rocha, Tumblr founder David Karp, ELLE Magazine Creative Director Joe Zee, Paper’s Editorial Director Mickey Boardman, and not to mention KENTON’s very own Fashion News Editor Corey Kindberg and European Fashion Editor Colin Dawidziuk (er, me).
#UK2012 represents and perfectly advertises the grand re-opening of the DKNY flagship, which is now open at 27 Old Bond St, London.
