DSquared2 All About Retro Schoolgirls for Fall 2012
Following their men’s runway show a month ago, Dean and Dan Caten showed a women’s collection of similar flair at Milan Fashion Week yesterday. Taking us back to Senior Year of high school in the 1960’s, it was retro revival with a fierce punch of modern day sex appeal. Big hair with beehive volume and cat eye makeup (and sometimes cat eye eyewear) only emphasized the look.
Colors were bright, mixing vibrant and pastel hues. Fur hit the runway on trend with the season, while signature Dsquared2 denim popped up in various looks, in unexpected ways. Long gloves, brooch-like buttons and pencil skirts all created the allure of the 60s. There was even a powder blue skirt suit ensemble reminiscent of the Pan Am stewardesses.
Eveningwear took the mood in a darker, glam direction. Feathers, beading and lace spoke out in the all black, formal looks. The collection is the perfect complement to the men’s and full of wearable separates. With the softness of decades past combined with modern day edge, DSquared2’s fall 2012 collection is truly ready-to-wear.
