Down in the heart of the West Village in New York City, we had the chance to see what Elizabeth and James had in store for Spring 2013. As each look came down the runway, our hearts soared higher and higher. If anything, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen know exactly what they’re doing — which is why they are recognized as a serious force in fashion and not their childhood fame.

This season Elizabeth and James showed a collection that was calm, collected and cool. A color palette of ivory, copper (which has been seen on many runways this season), magentas and black made for the perfect spring palette. For those days you’re need a little pick me up, or for something serious with flair the black harem pants are just the right fit. An ivory linen trench came down the runway, the perfect key piece for Spring. Slim trousers in copper and blue also joined the models on the catwalk. And as you know, Elizabeth and James is known for their sunglasses, and they didn’t disappoint this season either — I’ve got my eye on a pair of caramel tortoise cat eye’s.It was hard for us to drag our eyes off the floor as blush leather, patent rose gold and yellow gold multi-strap sandals came down the runway. But then our eyes we’re quickly averted when a peach cotton short and blazer came strutting down the runway.

The Elizabeth and James girl is serious, playful, reserved and outgoing. She wants to look her best at all times, without looking like she tried. Whether you’re taking one piece from this collection (or all of it) you’ll always look your best in Elizabeth and James — no ifs, ands or buts.
