Fashion Fuels Hands and Hearts at Orlane and Afghan Hands 2nd Annual Fundraiser to Launch the Nazaneen Toloui Foundation

The planets aligned and the stars came out on what was supposed to be a rainy night to support a worthy cause. Claire Danes and Cynthia Nixon hosted the second annual fundraiser benefiting Orlane and Afghan Hands to Launch the Nazaneen Toloui Foundation at Longchamp Soho on September 30, 2010.

Afghan Hands has centers in and around Kabal that are dedicated to providing Afghan widows with a place where they can get together, study and work. The result is beautiful embroidered scarves and pillows that reflect the lightened spirits of the newly trained artisans. The goal of Afghan hands is to give these women independence through education and financial empowerment.

The night was an unbelievable success resulting in over $45,000.00 in funds not including online donations and purchases. Often fashion is considered a trivial pursuit however, it is organizations like Afghan Hands and the Nazaneen Toloui Foundation that prove fashion can benefit everyone from creator to consumer.
