After 27 glorious years, Fashion Television will be going off the air. Canada’s Bell Media has cut production on the weekly fashion TV series and with it ten jobs are being lost. According to the broadcaster, Fashion Television host and celebrated Canadian fashion commentator Jeanne Beker will continue on with Bell Media to report on fashion-related content.

Jeanne Beker tweeted, “So surreal. This dream is over: After 27 glorious years, FT production ceased today. So sad to see some of my closest colleagues move on… But life’s about change! We have to embrace that. NEW dreams now. Looking forward to working with Bellmedia + evolving the FT brand.

It’s the end of an era for fashion commentary on TV. However, with high-paced shows like Project Runway, Top Model, Fashion Star and The Rachel Zoe Project, the market for a televised look into the world of fashion has become a glamorized, competitive field.

FT, we’ll miss you.

It's more than fashion.
