KENTON Editor Winter Style – Mia Tucker Williams

Fall/Winter is my favorite time of year for getting dressed. The changing temperatures outside force us to pile on a few extra layers each day, which is a great way to show off your fashion sense. During the fall months I like to be comfortable in what I wear, while always staying stylish and put together. Grey is one of my favorite neutrals that I wear all year long, because it goes with everything, yet you can always find good pieces during the fall season. Below, I’ve put together my six must-haves for this season, which showcase my personal style.

1 . For versatility it’s a good idea to have at least one knee boot in your closet, and this season the Charlotte Tall Boot by Coye Nokes ($660) puts a modern twist on a classic style. I love the strap detail around the ankle, and the heel height is just perfect. These boots are so wearable that you can pair them with leggings, skinny jeans, or even a cute wrap dress.

2. Each year there is always one thing that separates all the cool kids during the fall season, and that’s a great leather jacket. My ultimate style recommendation would be to invest in a Rick Owens or Helmut Lang piece, however if those don’t quite fit into your budget, All Saints has some amazing leather choices that may work for you. I like the All Saints Walker Leather Biker Jacket ($575), because it gives off a tough city vibe, which looks so stylish over a simple boyfriend tee, or a sexy cocktail dress.

3. For a look that is simple but chic, invest in a laid back, cozy boyfriend sweater. Look for one that hits right at the hip area that you can throw on over your favorite skinny jeans, or wear belted with those new leather leggings you have nothing to go with. I like heather grey because it goes perfectly with every other color in your closet. One of my favorites this season is HELMUT’s Fine Alpaca Pullover ($210). The neckline is very flattering, and it’s so soft you’ll want to curl up in it and take a nap.

4. Your accessories say a lot about who you are, and in my opinion they should always stand out. This season Cornelia Guest has a beautiful collection of handbags at the most amazing price point. If you’re like me and you’re always in and out of your handbag, I’d recommend getting a standout tote like this Cornelia Guest Nicolas Weave ($290) style in black. The textured detail looks very high end, and there isn’t a ton of hardware to weigh you down. The quality of leather is absolutely incredible and for under $300, it’s practically a steal!

5. In my opinion updating your denim collection is always in style, and if I could get away with it, I’d honestly wear denim every day. At times finding a pair of jeans with a great fit for less than $200 can be a bit of a challenge. However, I recently attended a VIGOSS preview and they had the perfect solution. This season check out VIGOSS’s Medium Wash Destructed Skinny Jean ($79). Not only is the fit wonderful, but the price is only $79. At that rate, you can buy two pair.

6. Last but not least, you’ll want to have a pretty scarf to go with all of your must haves. This simple but much needed accessory offers an easy way to add a pop of color to your look. BCBG has some fun colors this season, and I really love the BCBG Lace Stripe Scarf ($38) in Poinsettia. This cheerful red shade may be exactly what you need on a rainy day to brighten up your mood, and you can even match it to your lipstick!
