Look Sharp, Spend Less: A Second Look at J.Hilburn
When we originally told you about J.Hilburn, the custom suiting brand that takes tailored luxury to a new level and a much better price we gave you just a quick overview. We received such great response on the brand that we thought we would dive deeper into the world of J.Hilburn and really test it out. We had the lucky chance to hangout with the Creative Director, JP, to talk about the company and even get fitted for a few pieces.
If you know me at all you know that if I ever was to leave fashion I would going into some sort of spy field. Incessantly, I also had a twitter rant (similar to Kanye West twitter rant) about how I no longer want to date men of finance and only date spies now. I was on a James Bond binge, sue me. That’s how I viewed this. That is until I stepped off the elevator, got lost and realized I’d make a horrible spy. I digress. Back to the point — this is how my fitting went:
I may be one of the most self-conscious narcissistic people on this planet, so getting fitted for something was a bit nerve racking. It had to be one of the most laid-back fittings I have ever had the pleasure of having. I was quickly put at ease at JP told me how each style advisor (there are over 1,200 style advisors) is trained to make the customer feel relaxed and comfortable during a process that can be grueling.
After getting all my sizes JP and I sat down to discuss all the stylings. The best part of this almost overwhelming process is that there is something for everyone. Whether you want to stay mainstream or be a little on the edge or even take a look from the pages of a European fashion magazine, J.Hilburn has you covered.
It was all down hill from there. All I needed to do was select my colors and prints. Oh wait, it would be simple if they didn’t have over 200 shirting fabrics (we’re not actually complaining, that’s just bomb) and a plethora of trims to choose from. After all of that I selected two amazing shirts with some sick prints, of course. I also took home a stunning sports coat. Don’t worry, we’ll post pictures.
Let’s talk a bit about the company. JP had the pleasure of filling us in on the back-story of two Wall Street guys who were sick of brands “over promising and under delivering.” We get it. It was down hill from there as the company went into “direct sales and custom dress shirts.” The one thing we really love about J.Hilburn is that they “have no specific customer. We’re a custom company.” So if you’re the guy who just wants to look sharp and spend less or if the big & tall section doesn’t suit your style you can shop J.Hilburn.
We expect huge things from J.Hilburn as their fashion show in Las Vegas just passed and we’re sure it was a huge hit.
