Mara Hoffman Spring 2013
You can always count on Mara Hoffman for two things, her signature prints and taking your mind to another place – usually one that’s hot and tropical. This season, the designer was inspired by the beautiful islands of Hawaii, beach living and the spirit that the culture represents. The Hawaiian greeting “Aloha” was a reoccurring theme in the collection symbolizing peace, affection and compassion, a concept right in line with Hoffman’s positive messages from season to season. Models sported frizzy hair with palm accents and leaf bracelets that were a perfect compliment to the bursts of color and free flowing dresses. Each look was full of unique print combinations including vibrant patchwork and geometric patterns with a few pops of solid greens, reds and magentas. A handful of celebrities came out to view the show this season including Jessica White, Kenza Fourati, Holland Roden, Julie Henderson and even Lil’ Kim, which made for a noteworthy front row. Hoffman always seems to stay true to her aesthetic giving the audience a show that is not just beautiful to the eye but also one that reminds us that fashion can still be fun, effortless and full of life.
