Expectations were high at the Martin Lim, Fall/Winter presentation, as the Montreal-based duo of Danielle Martin and Pao Lim had been awarded a fully sponsored and produced runway show at this seasonʼs World MasterCard Fashion Week. The award was in conjunction with the Mercedes Benz Start Up competition and set the tone for a collection that was opulent, delicate and well constructed. Saturated, punchy tones of coral and pink in combination with a dusty, cool lavender set the collection apart after many of the expected dark tones used for fall graced the runway. Crowd favourites included a full length, halter-necked maxi, draped to skim the figure in the most shocking pink, as well as a clean-cut, black and white leather top. Womenswear got a makeover and we are waiting to see just what the dynamic duo will come up with next.
