Rachel Zoe at Holt Renfrew Vancouver

Vancouver got a little bit more glamorous this afternoon! Rachel Zoe, stylist- turned-designer extraordinaire, took to the main stage at Holt Renfrew to chat with Barbara Atkin (VP, Fashion Direction at Holt Renfrew) and present her Fall 2012 collection to fans and local fashion figures.

Dressed in a very telltale silhouette, Rachel was rocking a black and white tuxedo pantsuit, statement jewelry and platform wedges. Hair in her signature beach-inspired waves, she exuded the iconic look she’s known for. Rachel began by exclaiming that everyone in Vancouver is “so beautiful,” and was quick to point out that she doesn’t always say that about a city. She then went on to discuss her own foray into the fashion world and encouraged everyone with big dreams to “follow them and go after them because you can’t expect them to come to you.

Models then took to the runway while Zoe talked us through each look. Not surprisingly, she took inspiration from the music and fashion scene of both the 60’s and 70’s. Focusing on the likes of Mick Jagger, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, her collection brings elements of decades past, but with enough modern detailing to keep the looks relevant and fresh. Dominated by bold hues, impeccable tailoring, and classic silhouettes, Zoe says her aim is to provide pieces that will remain in one’s wardrobe for years to come.

Afterwards, Rachel made a brief appearance backstage to sign autographs and pose for photos. After thanking everyone for coming out, she made a swift exit alongside hairstylist Joey Maalouf and RZ INC Vice-President, Mandana Dayani. With witty banter and a light-hearted attitude, Rachel made for a great fashion-filled afternoon. And in the wise words of the designer herself, the event was seriously “ba-na-nas.”

It's more than fashion.
