Ralph-Lauren-Fall-2012-01

The Ralph Lauren Fall 2012 Collection opened with striking feminine twists of menswear tailoring; plaid trousers were flared, lapels lowered on blazers, and briefcases swapped with purses. In Classic Ralph Lauren fashion, the earthy color palette was matched with fair isle and leopard to create a unique, unconventional styling effort for the runway presentation. Popular menswear details, such as the club collar and waistcoat chain detailing were delicately added to the tailored pieces of the collection. Top hats, pocket squares, and even shiny black canes accentuate the attitude and true craftsmanship of men’s tailoring; the root of Ralph Lauren’s beginning as a young designer.

The gowns of Fall 2012 were a collective of simple silhouettes for women of all ages. Accentuating the most flattering parts of the woman’s body, the black and gold gowns mixed modesty with luxury. At first glance, modesty may have been all you were to expect, but the backs of the gowns were cut to perfection, adding a pleasing amount of sex appeal to each look. Ralph Lauren paid close attention to the necklines this season; jeweled detailing created an interesting, dramatic accent to the collection that perfectly combined the clean lines of menswear with the chic, luxurious elements of women’s wear.
