Salvatore Ferragamo Men’s Fall 2013

What is usually a collection filled with color, took a turn for the black and blue this season. Don’t get us wrong though, we’re not complaining by any means. This season, Massimiliano Giornetti took a turn for the street-chic as look after look came down the runway. While he kept to the roots of fine tailoring and beatiful Italian fabrics, Giornetti made sure to appeal to a younger crowd.

What took the show? The outerwear, of course. We’re talking high-collared down coats,  double-breasted pea coats, leather trenches and more! It was dark, and serious and just brought a new meaning to the fall season. What works with the whole collection is layering possibilities, and how each piece flows effortlessly into the next. As usual, all the heritage was there. The trousers were expertly fitted, the sweaters were perfectly snug and the it seems as though each piece came from the tailor moments before. That’s the best thing about Ferragamo, no matter what you choose to wear, you’ll find that it fits you with ease and meets all your needs.

It reflects upon how everyone is feeling today. The lack of color, the hard edges – the masses are becoming more serious about their lives and their closets. The collection completely changed my personal understanding of the fall season, and brought new life to the meaning of a coat.
