Student Designers from LaSalle College Take Over the Runway at VFW Fall 2012
Eunmi Kim showcased one of the most standout collections of the evening with her feminine pieces consisting of mostly deep reds, rich peaches and blacks. From the usage of lace flowering details for a high-collared blouse to the revealing deep V tops, each outfit looked luxurious and extremely wearable for the trendy female. Do I even need to mention the fabulous black dress that closed the show with a conservative front and a risky, open back?
Another student that displayed a great sense of originality was Jun Young Kim, who had an overall collection influenced by the oriental taste. The first thing that strikes you is the completely pale white faces of the models with a bright, red lip, followed by a number of memorable outfits that were uniquely fashion-forward. One of my favorite looks included the satin gray blazer paired with a slouchy scarf, which seemed chic and effortless. Another piece I admired was the fitted black and metallic gray dress donning abstract white and red details.
Synikal by Byron Abad was all about the silk and checkers from start to finish. Models were dressed in a collection that embodied youthfulness yet commanded attention on and off the runway. The unique purple and orange checker printed tops and dresses was playful, while the silk black dress and long cape coat were fiery and fierce. I also can’t forget the moment when the model walks down the runway with her furry friend – what a fashionable puppy.
