Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2012 Preliminary Line-Up

New York Fashion Week is fast approaching. Today, Mercedes-Benz and IMG released the preliminary line-up for the Fall 2012 runway shows, taking place February 9-16, 2012 at Lincoln Center. The list includes many of the usual suspects, like BCBG Max Azria, Tadashi Shoji, Carlos Miele and Michael Kors, as well as some new additions like Whitney Eve (The Hills star Whitney Port’s line) and Chadwick Bell.

“Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week continues to put the world’s leading fashion designers and brands center stage” says Peter Levy, SVP and Managing Director, IMG Fashion Worldwide. “Each season the event evolves as a showcase for established and up-and-coming designers. We are excited about this season’s lineup and are eagerly looking forward to welcoming all of our guests.”

Norman Ambrose Spring 2012

Glamour and elegance does not even begin to describe Norman Ambrose’s spring 2012 collection. Showing for the second time at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, this women’s wear designer is one to watch. The collection is sophisticated and timeless in an almost ageless style.

Opening the show with black and gold looks, the collection was off to an opulent start. Silk fabrics glistened down the runway, as every guest watched in awe. Towards the middle of the show, looks took a turn for the lighter side, in a combination of silver and white pieces. Dusty rose, coral and orange eased their way into the looks, with dots of turquoise here and there, in appliqued details. Metallic finishes, patterns and cuts alluded to anciet, Eastern nobility.

Dress and gown silhouettes bring delicate femininity, while tailored suits create a strong backbone to the spring 2012 collection. It is clear that Norman Ambrose understands luxury and sophistication without a doubt. Be on the look out next spring, because this collection will be selling fast.

Designer Debut: Norman Ambrose F/W 2011

I died and went to Norman Ambrose heaven the other day in the Box at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week F/W 2011. Girls like myself live for the kind of RTW drama that took place during this presentation. Alligator and Sable collide to make the “purr-fect” coat to cap off the silk charmeuse cowel neck blouse and pencil skirt that peered out at the audience. Jewel tones, embroidery, bouclé and cashmere come together harmoniously in a ‘Dynasty’ kind of way without the twenty pound shoulder pads or the cigarette holders.

Fall/Winter 2011 is Norman Ambrose’s debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The designer is a graduate of the Academy of Art University in San Fransisco and Instuto Europeo di Design in Milan and formerly worked on projects with Versace and Bottega Veneta before launching his namesake label.
