UU UNIQLO Undercover Brings Eclectic Collection For The Modern Family
On February 1, UNIQLO and Jun Takahashi announced the launch of UU (uniqlo undercover): a collection with ‘clothing for the families of today’. This first collaborative collection was designed by Takahashi, the founder of cult-hit fashion label UNDERCOVER, and will make its debut in 11 countries on Friday, March 16 2012.
Takahashi is known for being a fashion trend leader both in Japan and internationally, using inspirations from street style fashion and punk music to create clean and sophisticated high-end fashion for UNDERCOVER. Teaming up with UNIQLO, the designer brings his distinctively edgy, yet upscale touch, to a range of the brand’s high quality, basic clothing for the whole family.
The UU collection includes a series of clothing essentials; from comfortable loungewear to the ideal pieces for a day spent out and about. It is all about a new kind of family oriented clothing under a singular concept. Gentle colors with darker hues set the tone for the men’s collection, whereas the women can expect pieces with a brighter color palette and stunning patterns. For the children’s collection, Takahashi shared the design process with his wife, Rico. As parents of two children, the couple aimed for a collection far beyond the conventional realm of children’s clothing, creating a playful combination of lively colors, one-of-a-kind prints and exquisite details.
UU is Jun Takahashi’s message to the world to encourage families to see things from the bright side as they face the ups and downs of modern life. The collection will be available in all three UNIQLO New York locations on March 16, 2012. The prices of the collections will range between $19.90 – $99.90 (men’s and women’s) and $19.90 – $59.90 (children and babies). For more information visit UU’s website: www.unercover.uniqlo.com.
